“I don’t think they look at the emotional impact”

“Say if you’ve got a physical disability like me, I think when you’re being treated for something physically, I don’t think they necessarily look at the emotional impact on that. I think if you’re with a mental health service and a consultant, say, the consultant will look at whatever medication or the disability or whatever. And a mental health professional will obviously look at the mental health. But I think there needs to be some… I think the people treating the physical side of things…especially with children, I think they need to look at whatever the treatment is, giving or prescribing, I think they need to make sure they also take into account the emotional impact of that. And maybe put support in place for that. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t prescribe things because of the emotional impact, because sometimes they need to. But I think they need to consider that more when they’re treating you.”
