‘People like The Curry Circle because we treat them like humans’
Nazim has raised thousands of pounds for various charities. He has volunteered at The Curry Circle for over eight years, working over 800 hours.

“People are choosing between heating, eating, or skipping meals. And organisations like The Curry Circle are doing our best to firefight. A lot of people are suffering on our doorstep – we’ve got to do what we can to help. People are just running out of food.
We’re one of the only sources of support for some people in the community. We’ve got to know people much more personally since the pandemic, when a lot of people were isolated. They’ve started to really trust us. We give them a bit of hope that they’ll have a good meal and a chat once a week.
Even since it ended I still say ‘Hi’ to them and put a smile on their face when I can. We give people a sense of familiarity and trust which you really need in difficult times.
The volunteers at The Curry Circle are ingrained in the community so we can relate. People have always said they like The Curry Circle because we treat them like humans.
I’ve had people tell me they look forward to it because they get to meet other people. But also they know we care. I’ve received letters from service users saying they don’t know what they’d do without us.
Whoever needs a meal they know they can come to The Curry Circle and they won’t be judged.”
