“Self-help plays a massive role in how we move forwards”

“Self-help plays a massive role in how we move forwards. There’s a huge strain on services more so than has been for many, many years. And I feel, personally, a lot of it is born out of anxiety. And that anxiety is precipitated by an overload of information that we’re receiving from multiple sources, whether it’s from the news or things related to Covid. But I just feel like there’s a general sense of anxiety and people don’t know how to manage that themselves. And so they’re seeking services, whether it’s through their GP or turning up to A&E, and expecting to be able to get over it very quickly. But it is a long process of engaging with other services, like we’ve said, things like art or community conversations. And so just being able to talk about how we feel, not necessarily with healthcare professionals, but with other people in the community.”
